Sources revealed at the weekend that 22-year-old midfielder Yasin Ben El-Mhanni had lodged a complaint of bullying against former England global Beardsley, and it has since emerged that further allegations have been made.

Peter Beardsley has been placed on gardening leave by Newcastle United while the club investigate the allegations of racial abuse and bullying that have been levelled against their Under-23 manager.

A statement has now been put out by Newcastle, who say via their official site: "After discussions with Peter Beardsley this morning it has been agreed that he will take a".

It later emerged that accusations had also been made by other players. The complainants are due to give their evidence this week.

"Peter Beardsley is aware of inaccurate media reports which result from unauthorised leaks", read his statement.

DeMille Award at the 2018 Golden Globes, she told the audience that "everyone loves Oprah". Winfrey brought the typically rowdy crowd to silence and tears with her speech.

The club are not commenting on the matter, but it is understood that a grievance meeting has been scheduled.

Peter Beardsley says he "categorically denies" allegations of bullying and racism.

It is not the first time he has found himself at the centre of claims of unfair treatment during his time working with Newcastle's youth players.

Beardsley and Newcastle academy director Kenny Wharton were cleared of bullying by a Premier League inquiry in 2003. It is hoped the investigation will conclude quickly.
