Incredible Footage Shows Alligators In USA Pushing Snouts Through Ice To Survive

Video shows alligators surviving frigid, freezing North Carolina water by keeping their nostrils in the air

A North Carolina animal park is showing how alligators survive in frozen waters, by keeping their nostrils above the surface.

"They seem to be doing fairly well", said an expert from the park who was watching the alligators poke their noses out of the frozen river.

In the video, an alligator is seen sticking its snout out of a frozen swamp.

The alligators went into the water last week during the "bomb cyclone" that hit the East coast. "Pretty unbelievable. ... Look at those teeth".

He just wants to make them more comfortable while they wait out the cold.

"Just hanging out in the water there".

"I looked around and I was like 'hmmm what is that poking up out of the water?' They nearly look like cypress trees a little bit from afar". Once it becomes warm and the ice melts, the creatures thermoregulate their body temperatures to their regular state. 'They are trying to conserve energy to maintain body temperature'. "It just so happened southeastern North Carolina recently had a freeze like none other, so the ice literally froze right around their snouts".
