"Another FP [foreign policy] blunder for the Trump administration".

Andrew Gwynne said he would be "very surprised" if his boss Jeremy Corbyn did not call out the Iranian regime's policy of hanging of gay men, but defended Labour's decision of not uniformly back protesters, claiming Labour had to be "very careful".

As the Iranian protests continue into its eighth day, and the regime carries out its violent crackdown, the world is indeed watching.

Tens of thousands gathered across Iran yesterday in a show of strength for the regime after days of deadly unrest, with state television showing crowds marching through several cities.

"And that's the danger here, that if you then come out on one side against the other and say "one side is bad, the other side is 100% good" it's never perhaps as black and white as that as we have found in other Middle Eastern crises". A dozen were killed, many more arrested, and social media is down in Iran.

The Iranian regime is finding out the hard way that it's dealing with a much different kind of US administration.

He said the majority emphasized the need to fully implement the 2015 nuclear deal and to refrain from interfering in the affairs of other countries.

Prosecutors in pot-friendly states will decide on crackdown
Coos County Sherriff Craig Zanni said, "This is now a federal issue related to a change of federal prosecutor's directives". Walker said he's committed to upholding the will of Alaska voters, who legalized recreational pot use in 2014.

In 2009, the uprising of millions in Tehran was driven by middle-class rage over an election stolen by the populist President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. U.S. President Donald Trump cheered on protesters, calling Iran a "brutal and corrupt regime", while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "wish [ed] the Iranian people success in their noble quest for freedom".

"And I call on the Government of Iran to stop censoring the voice of the people and to restore the access to the internet".

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on Twitter after the session that the Security Council "rebuffed the U.S.' naked attempt to hijack its mandate".

Furthermore, U.S. -allied France and the United Kingdom defended the the Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program, and noted Iran's compliance.

Haley said "the people of Iran are rising up" and "if the founding principles of this institution mean anything, we will not only hear their cry, we will finally answer it". Russian Federation said Washington was overstepping into Iran's domestic affairs.

It remains hard for journalists to piece together what's happening beyond the capital, especially as the government has blocked both the photo-sharing app Instagram and the messaging app Telegram, which protesters have used to organize their demonstrations and share footage.

Following recent unrests in certain parts of Iran, US Representative to the UN Nikki Haley in a speech to reporters at the UN headquarters on January 2 accused Iran of violating human rights and freedom of expression and said Washington was after sessions on Iran by UNSC in NY and UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva. It has said those restrictions will be lifted on Friday, and there were signs Thursday that it had begun easing some of them.
