ESPN host: 'Trump's af***ing stupid person'

The Associated Press

Nolan joined ESPN in October, moving from Fox Sports.

ESPN host Katie Nolan forewent company policy about engaging in political talk with a controversial appearance on Viceland's "Desus & Mero" program, in which she called President Trump "a f-ing stupid person". The network adds that "they were inappropriate and we have addressed it with her". In October the network suspended SC-6 host Jemele Hill for two weeks for calling for fans to boycott Dallas Cowboys advertisers. She previously had tweeted that Trump was a "white supremacist".

That vague statement doesn't necessarily mean that Nolan hasn't been suspended or punished, as ESPN does not make all of its disciplinary actions public. Longtime ESPN President John Skipper suddenly announced in December that we has resigning from the network due to a substance addiction problem.

ESPN issued revised guidelines on social media and political commentary late previous year.

ESPN's new guidelines say employees "should refrain from overt partisanship or endorsement of particular candidates, politicians or political parties" while avoiding "personal attacks and inflammatory rhetoric".

Unemployment rate hits lowest mark in 40 years
A report showing that the USA economy created more private-sector jobs than expected last month lent some support to the US dollar.

But Nolan's comments don't technically violate the social media guidelines since they were not delivered on social media.

The exchange comes at the 13:30 mark in the video.

At ESPN, apparently anything goes as long as the vitriol is directed at President Trump.

"This has nothing to do with where on the political spectrum you fall", Kellerman said.
