FCC Chairman Cancels Appearance at Electronics Show

Ajit Pai will not be speaking at next week's massive Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, according to an email sent to media covering the event.

Pai has consistently attended CES for half a decade.

Two unnamed agency sources told Recode why Pai pulled the appearance at the annual Consumer Electronics Show Las Vegas on January 9 one day after it was reported he had canceled.

In an interview with Digital Trends, Shapiro did not expressly say why Pai had canceled but he did say that Pai and his family "have been subject to vicious and direct attacks and threats" in the past.

The report said that federal law enforcement had looked into the situation and other FCC offices would be briefed.

FTC Chairwoman Ohlhausen will still attend the convention despite his absence.

The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah, Pooja Hegde and Saqib Saleem. In one of her interviews , Katrina Kaif had earlier said, "It wasn't about the space or the VFX".

RT America reached out to a spokesperson for CTA and are waiting to hear back.

The Federal Communications Commission chairman was to debate his decision to overturn net neutrality rules.

The FCC has been the target of much anger from the tech industry over its unpopular decision to end its net neutrality regulations.

In November, federal prosecutors filed criminal charges against a Syracuse man for allegedly threatening to kill a NY member of Congress unless he backed net neutrality.

This isn't the first time FCC officials have received threats related to the move.

In December, the FCC's meeting to vote on net neutrality was halted because of a bomb threat. By repealing the classification of ISPs as public utilities, or "common carriers" in Communications Act parlance, the RIF Order restores the Federal Trade Commission's legal authority to hold ISPs accountable for their promises to refrain from blocking, throttling, or prioritizing internet traffic.
