Washington's Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley dismissed the utility of possible direct talks between North and South Korea, warning that a harder line is necessary in light of reports that Pyongyang might be preparing for more ballistic missile tests. "We all know that's complete nonsense", she scoffed. The demonstrations are completely spontaneous.
On New Year's Day Donald Trump tweeted: "Iran is failing at every level despite the bad deal made with them by the Obama Administration".
She said: "This is the precise picture of a long opressed people rising up against their dictators".
Ms Haley said the United States would be seeking emergency sessions of the UN Security Council and the Geneva-based UN Human Rights Commission in the coming days, to discuss the situation.
"The people of Iran are crying out for freedom", Haley said. "All freedom-loving people must stand with their cause", she said. "I don't think we should be silent".
The head of Iran's Tehran Revolutionary Court further warned that protesters who rallied against the government after the second day of demonstrations may face "serious penalties".
South Carolina's senior senator also criticized the response of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to the protests.
Philippe Coutinho has spoken to people close to him about Barcelona move
In fact, Paulinho has apparently been making jokes about Coutinho looking for a house in Spain, which might actually be true. That is, if Philippe Coutinho signs for Barcelona .
"We are still communicating with people in Iran on Facebook and Twitter and we're constantly updating those two sites in Farsi", said Goldstein.
"The worldwide community failed to do that in 2009", she added, referring to Iran's Green Revolution.
But, she said, it depends on Palestinian cooperation. "The president is willing to go to great lengths to stop all funding from Pakistan as they continue to harbor and support terrorism". "It is entirely connected to Pakistan's harboring of terrorists", she said. "To that end, tomorrow night we are having a reception for the countries who chose not to oppose the USA position", Haley said.
"What made you believe that you are on the right side of history?" the reporter asked. "They wanted to see the embassy moved to Jerusalem, and we followed through with that". "They work with us at times, and they also harbour the terrorists that attack our troops in Afghanistan".
"The civilized world must remain united and vigilant against the rogue state's development of a nuclear arsenal", Haley said.
The White House and the state department denied that - in offering to send a delegation to South Korea for the Winter Olympics in February - the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un had succeeding in driving a wedge between South Korea and the US.
