Ravens CB Jimmy Smith Suspended Four Games for PED Violation

Jimmy Smith

Smith was having the best season of his career, notching three interceptions and nine pass breakups while constantly covering the opponent's top wide receiver.

The surging Baltimore Ravens will play the final quarter of the regular season without cornerback Jimmy Smith, who will be on injured reserve while serving a suspension for violating the National Football League policy on performance enhancing substances.

After suffering a season-ending Achilles injury Sunday, Jimmy Smith received even more bad news Monday.

LiAngelo Ball Is Leaving UCLA Without Having Played a Game
LaVar Ball, the boisterous and bombastic patriarch of three basketball-playing sons, has become a major marketing marvel. LaVar Ball and President Donald Trump have engaged in a public war of words since the three players returned from China.

Smith reportedly knew of his suspension last week and was planning to appeal, but will withdraw that appeal and serve the suspension while he is out for the year with an injury. Second-year running back Kenneth Dixon was suspended for the first four games of the season, but suffered a season-ending meniscus injury before the season began. Smith would then have been eligible for the postseason if Baltimore made the playoffs.

It was not a very good weekend for Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith. "It's different than it has been before", head coach John Harbaugh said. The Ravens signed free agent cornerback Brandon Carr over the offseason and used their first-round draft pick to select Marlon Humphrey out of Alabama.

The suspension does include the ramification of a loss of four games' pay, so the decision to drop the appeal is far from inconsequential, but Smith restructured his contract and only has a minimum base salary this year. "Our offense needed to step up and they did, and I'm really proud of them for that". Smith will miss a total of 17 games over the past four seasons.
