Trump, #MeToo Movement On Short List For Time 'Person of the Year'

- Time unveiled the 10 finalists in the running to be named 2017 Person of the Year, which included President Trump, Colin Kaepernick, Special Counsel Robert Mueller and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

TIME's first selection was Charles Lindbergh, the first person to make a solo non-stop flight across the Atlantic.

Colin Kaepernick: The former NFL quarterback started a national protest past year by sitting during the national anthem ahead of a football game.

This season, hundreds of players have taken a knee before the anthem; some in criticism of President Donald Trump calling for the firing and suspension of players who disrespect the anthem.

It would be quite an achievement for Trump to score the honor in two consecutive years. He has been a the subject of much controversy during his first year as president, including when he tweeted that he had already turned down the offer to be 2017's Person of the Year.

He added: "I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!" He came into office in 2012 and was elected for a second five year term this year. He was also written into the Communist Party's constitution, which bestowed him with new authority and reinforced him as the country's most powerful leader in modern history.

Trump was previously named Time's 2016 "Person of the Year".
