Offbeat | Former President Barack Obama: 'Think before you tweet'

Former US president Barack Obama speaks at a conference during his first visit to France on Saturday

During the event, Obama reportedly made no mention of his successor Donald Trump at the event, but apparently did take time to hit out at the EU.

His remarks about this inspired laughter in the room, which was packed with French CEOs and former ministers. Obama then spoke on the mindfulness that should be exercised when using Twitter and all social media.

Obama was more direct in criticising Trump's threat to leave the 2015 Paris climate accord on slashing global carbon emissions.

"The thing I love about America and I suspect the thing you love about India is just this cacophony of life and it throws up all kinds of variety", Obama said in response to one attempt to force a comment on Trump.

During the UN climate change conference in Germany last month, some 20 USA states, 110 cities and more than 1,400 businesses - which they said represented a bigger economy than any nation outside the U.S. and China - pledged to honor the commitment made in Paris.

Excited crowds gather to see Harry on first official outing with Meghan
The event, held by the Terrence Higgins Trust, remembers lives lost to HIV and marks the progress made in fighting it. It's been an exceptionally busy week for the happy couple following their engagement announcement on Monday.

Former President Barack Obama, who enacted the deal, is expected to make an appearance at the Tuesday event, City Hall sources told NBC 5.

Both French leaders have criticized Trump's decision to ditch the climate accord.

Trump has threatened several times to withdraw from the Paris accord saying it is crippling United States business.

There is no shortage of women coming forward with stories of sexual harassment and assault in the workplace, so former President Barack Obama has offered a simple way to fix the imbalance of power that leads to this toxic culture: Put more women into leadership positions.

While in France, Obama also met with French President Emanuel Macron to discuss climate change and the European Union, among other topics.
