Syria: Israel Attacked Iranian Base outside Damascus

Syria: Israel Attacked Iranian Base outside Damascus

Five missiles were reportedly fired by Israel one of which destroyed the arms depot situated near El-Kiswah and two of which were intercepted by the Syrian government "military position", according to SANA, Syria's state-run news agency.

The message was recorded on Thursday, before the reported Israeli air strike on an Iranian base near al-Qiswa.

The missile attack was believed to be the latest in a series of Israeli attacks on Syria, where a six-year civil war has devastated much of the country and displaced millions of citizens.

Others however questioned whether condemning the models borders on hypocrisy, or if all of the models actually uttered the slur aloud.

"At half past midnight (local time, Saturday), the Israeli enemy fired several surface-to-surface missiles at a military position in Damascus province", SANA news agency reported. Iran has not commented on the incident.

Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that it would not allow Iran to establish any military presence in Syria. Reports earlier in November said that foreign reports said that IDF planes had bombed several targets in Syria, striking weapons warehouses in the town of Hasya, near the Syria-Lebanon border.

Tehran has helped prop up the Syrian regime with militias and officers. However, the images don't actually show much at all related to an Iranian military presence, but merely a series of two dozen large low-rise buildings - likely for housing soldiers and vehicles, which would be expected of any state army or sovereign nation. Israel also shot down a reconnaissance drone it believed was operated by Syria.
