Derrick Rose away from Cavaliers, reportedly weighing future in basketball

Derrick Rose of the Cleveland Cavaliers has missed the past seven games due to a sprained left ankle the latest in a long list of ailments during his all-star career

Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose has stepped away from the team, ESPN reports.

Rose has not played in a game since November 7 because of an ankle injury that has nagged him all season.

A team spokesman said Friday that Rose, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury, has not been with the team since Wednesday and there is no timetable on when he'll return.

Playing in only seven games so far this season, Rose was averaging almost 27 minutes per game.

CT Christmas tree farms open this week
"They said we don't have trees for you", said Pete Elliot, owner of Tree Land Christmas Trees . Some tree salesmen and tree farm owners concerned it could put them out of business.

The Cavaliers said that Rose's current absence is excused. He's missed the last seven games and is out indefinitely, and is averaging 14.3 points per game this year.

It's been more than two weeks since Derrick Rose last suited up for the Cavs, and now there's a chance the former NBA MVP may never play again.

Three mostly healthy seasons followed, but Rose tore the meniscus in his left knee late last season with the Knicks, forcing him to undergo knee surgery for the fourth time in his career.

"That was a family issue", Rose explained at the time. He first suffered the injury on October 20 in Milwaukee, when he landed awkwardly after a flagrant foul by Bucks center Greg Monroe. Right now, it's just a jacked-up ankle. "So I'll wear this, for I don't know how long, to see how it helps". As of now, he's projected to average 13.4 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds over 56 games the rest of the year. He signed a veteran's minimum contract with the Cavs in the offseason.
