Rose, who hosts Charlie Rose on PBS in addition to This Morning, has been suspended by both CBS and PBS in the wake of the allegations.

One day after a bombshell Washington Post report alleging sexual harassment against Charlie Rose, the veteran journalist has been fired from CBS.

Rose has apologized to any woman he has upset over the years though he questioned the accuracy of the accounts, saying that he thought he was "pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken".

Rose's alleged misconduct includes making lewd phone calls, walking around naked and groping the women's breasts, buttocks or genital areas, according to the Post.

SUNY Oswego says it is considering revoking Charlie Rose's honorary degree after the longtime news anchor was accused of sexual misconduct by more than a dozen women.

Responses to Rose's alleged behavior came fast from CBS, PBS, and Bloomberg. I deeply regret not helping them.

"How do you wrap your brain around that?" she said. "This followed the revelation yesterday of extremely disturbing and intolerable behavior said to have revolved around his PBS program", Rhodes wrote in a memo to CBS News colleagues. The show launched on New York PBS station WNET and then went national in 1994.

The consensus view in the television news industry is that Rose will not return to the CBS broadcast or to his nightly talk show on public broadcasting.

Said King: "I really am reeling". For example, when Bravo worked a side job at Rose's house, she was told by a co-worker, "If Rose did anything "sketchy"... she should not hesitate to call the show's auto service to return home", the Post said.

In a statement, PBS said that the service "expects all the producers we work with to provide a workplace where people feel safe and are treated with dignity and respect".

"This is a moment that demands a frank and honest assessment about where we stand and more generally the safety of women", she said. "I have learned a great deal as a result of these events, and I hope others will, too".

"Six said they saw what they considered to be harassment, eight said they were uncomfortable with Rose's treatment of female employees, and 10 said they did not see or hear anything concerning". Rose hosted "CBS This Morning" each weekday and was a contributor to "60 Minutes".

Rose, King said, "doesn't get a pass, because I can't stop thinking about the anguish of these women. that and the pain that they're going through".
