SADC intervenes as Zimbabwe crisis rages on

President Mugabe's sons study and reside in South Africa.

President Robert Mugabe met with the man believed to be the architect behind the military take-over in the country, Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) commander, Constantino Chiwenga; and South African envoys on Thursday, according to a report.

CNN, a USA based global news channel reported yesterday that Opposition leader for Movement for Democratic Change ( MDC) Morgan Tsvangirai, who had been receiving cancer treatment overseas, returned to Harare after the military takeover. His mandate, according to the military plan, would include restoring the rule of law and stabilising the economy.

Organ Troika and Council Chairperson Ministers who met Thursday in Botswana to consider the unfolding political and security situation in Zimbabwe said they were against the removal of democratically elected governments and called for a leaders summit on the crisis. "It is in the interest of the people of Zimbabwe; Mugabe must resign immediately, "News24 quoted Mr Tsvangirai as having said in the press conference".

Sessions considering appointing a second special counsel to investigate Clinton allegations
Trump is frustrated with the continuing investigations into Russia's election meddling and possible ties to his campaign. And at his latest appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sessions seemed to shift his position again.

Mugabe had also reportedly demanded that all his wife Grace's allies be accounted for after a number of senior ministers were arrested in the wake of what is now being widely acknowledged as a coup. Emmerson Mnangagwa, a former security chief and life-long Mugabe confidant known as "The Crocodile" who was axed as Vice-President earlier this month, is the key player.

Ms Joice Mujuru, a Zimbabwean Vice-President who was sacked in 2014, called for "free, fair and credible elections" after a transition arrangement that draws from a range of communities.

The War Veterans Association in Zimbabwe is calling on all citizens to join in a peaceful protest against President Robert Mugabe in Harare on Saturday.

"Should we just sit and wait or shall we at least be part of this transition process?" They have been watching developments in Zimbabwe very closely with most expressing mixed emotions over the current situation. The shift to military control brought a kind of fresh air.
