Gigi Hadid dropped from Victoria's Secret show after 'racist' video

Surprise! Victoria's Secret Angel Jasmine Tookes proudly shows off her new wings created by Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing for the brand's upcoming fashion show in Shanghai

Gigi Hadid won't be walking in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year, and she's just as disappointed as you are.

The 22-year-old model announced the news on Twitter.

Kendall Jenner is not participating in the show this year - she has a deal with Italian lingerie company La Perla that prohibits her from working with competing companies - but last year, the model was snapped makeup-free while a stylist worked on her hair.

"Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!"

A Victoria's Secret online fan account worked out that three models from Russia (Julia Belyakova, Kate Grigorieva and Irina Sharipova) and one from Ukraine (Dasha Khlystun) have had their Chinese visas denied.

Gigi's younger sister Bella, however, appears to still be walking in Shanghai.

Though Hadid didn't offer a reason for her abrupt decision to skip the show, there is speculation that she was amongst the models experiencing issues obtaining a Chinese visa.

"I am so excited!"

The VS models aren't the only ones having difficulty with the Chinese government.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is scheduled to air on CBS on November 28, but people tasked with covering the event are "on the verge of nervous breakdowns", according to The Post.

Some social media users had previously said they did not want Hadid to come to China because of a video that showed her imitating Buddha's face.

But there are also comments on Bella's Instagram post condemning her, since she was the one who recorded and posted the video in question in the first place.

While the show hasn't officially confirmed the musical acts for 2017, it's been widely reported that Harry Styles, Katy Perry and Miguel (not Taylor Swift) are set to perform.

It's also been rumoured that even media agencies are unsure if they will be granted visas or what they'll be able to film from the show.
