Sessions considering appointing a second special counsel to investigate Clinton allegations

Freedom Caucus founder Jim Jordan is one of the leading voices pushing for Attorney General Sessions to create a probe to look into James Comey

Attorney General Jeff Sessions speaks during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Capitol Hill, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 in Washington.

Sessions came under fire last month after a former campaign advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to misleading investigators about his involvement with Russian Federation.

"I'm really not involved with the Justice Department", Trump told reporters earlier this month. He said he mentioned in passing to Sessions that he was visiting Russian Federation and the then-senator had no reaction.

Mr. Trump is frustrated with the continuing investigations into Russia's election meddling and possible ties to his campaign.

Sessions would not say whether the dossier was used by the FBI to obtain warrants to surveil Trump associates, nor would he comment on any hypothetical investigation into Justice Department leaks to the media about the dossier. "He's bold and direct about what he says, people elected him, but we do our duty every day based on law and facts".

Testimony before Congress has proved to be something of a thorn in Sessions's side.

Gershman said that Sessions' failure to disclose the Papadopoulos meeting could amount to perjury.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has directed federal prosecutors to "evaluate certain issues" involving Hillary Clinton's alleged corruption in a deal which gave Russian company Rosatom control over 20 percent of America's uranium supply. "I have always tried to answer the questions fairly and accurately".

Russians Offered To 'Send Five Women' to Trump's Moscow Hotel Room
After accompanying Trump to the room, Schiller said he waited outside for a few minutes and then left, CNN reports . Later that night, Schiller, a former NYPD cop, said he and Trump had a good laugh about the incident.

"I will not accept and reject accusations that I have ever lied under oath".

Meanwhile, the Senate Judiciary Committee is planning a Tuesday interview with a Russian-American lobbyist who attended a campaign meeting previous year with Trump's son, according to a person familiar with the interview. Trump has repeatedly voiced frustration about the Mueller probe and publicly criticized Sessions, stoking speculation he might be fired.

Papadopoulos, who pled guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his contacts with Russia, told the Trump campaign meeting that he had connections with Moscow and could help arrange a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to court documents.

The department also confirmed that it was considering a special counsel to investigate the foundation of former president Bill Clinton, and its ties to companies involved in a deal that sold U.S. uranium rights to a Russian state company. And at his latest appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sessions seemed to shift his position again.

Sessions said DOJ would investigate any potential issues related to Clinton.

Some Republicans have also called for investigations into the Uranium One deal, including Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Representative Bob Goodlatte of Virginia - both chairmen of congressional committees that oversee the Justice Department.

"I'm not able to answer that", he repeated multiple times to Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan as he asked about the dossier. "Is it proper, is that what you're asking?"
