Russian Federation uses video game pictures to claim USA helped Isil

Both social media posts contained five images showing what appeared to be satellite imagery of a convoy of trucks in a desert landscape.

The only problem: they're fake.

"This is the best evidence [Russia's defense ministry] are shameless liars, they take a video game screenshot then claim its from a specific location and date", Mr. Higgins tweeted Tuesday. Instead, it said, American forces interfered with Russian air operations, allowing ISIS to recover and redeploy.

Russia's Defense Ministry, however, remained adamant that the US was indeed "covering ISIS combat units to recover their combat capabilities, redeploy, and use them to promote the American interests in the Middle East" and shared new images it claimed were meant to be attached to the original post.

The militants had been forced to retreat from the city of Abu Kamal in the Syrian province of Deir al-Zour, one of the last remaining IS strongholds in Syria, by the advancing government troops.

The images are consistent with a mix of screengrabs from a number of clearly identifiable videos.

In one screengrab, the Russians added the caption: "ISIS automobile convoy leaves Abu Kamal for Syrian-Iraqi border".

Dream Chaser space plane successfully completes test flight
It is being created to land on runways and then allow crews to access the materials flown back to Earth soon after landing. Dream Chaser, which looks like a smaller version of the Space Shuttle, would initially be launched on an Atlas V rocket.

"Such actions by the coalition show that the rapid advance of the Syrian troops in Abu Kamal have disrupted US plans to create pro-American authorities beyond the control of the Syrian government, and to manage the territories on the eastern bank of the Euphrates", it said.

The Iraqi military says it killed 440 ISIS fighters and destroyed 688 of their vehicles in that operation; coalition airstrikes destroyed about 175 additional ISIS vehicles.

Russian Ministry of Defense's "irrefutable evidence (left) and video game simulator (right)".

A US Department of Defense spokesman said this incident was just the latest "episode" by the Russians. Adrian J.T. Rankine-Galloway.

"The Russian Defense Ministry is investigating its civil service employee who erroneously attached wrong photo illustrations to its statement on interaction between the US-led global coalition and Islamic State militants near Abu Kamal, Syria", the ministry said.

"Twitter users quickly found out that 4 out of 5 "drone photos" were actually taken from videos released by the Iraqi Ministry of Defence in June 2016, showing the Iraqi Air Force bombing IS near Fallujah".

The defense ministry has since republished its original claims of USA support of ISIS on its social media accounts, with new photos.
