Google's Android distribution numbers for November confirm a minimal increase for Oreo

Android 8.1 Oreo will free up space by shrinking apps you don't use

One billion outdated Android devices.

In a blog post, he wrote: "Something that wouldn't have been obvious without looking at the data is that the uptake of new versions seems to be slowing down - we can see this by looking at the last few contour lines at the top right of the graph, corresponding to the most recent Android releases".

Google has been trying to tackle the crippling issue of Android fragmentation for years now, but the latest evidence seems to prove the firm's efforts are futile.

U.S. hate crimes rose during fierce 2016 election, Federal Bureau of Investigation stats show
In California, the numbers also rose along with the rest of the nation: From 837 hate crimes in 2015 to 931 in 2016. More than half of those against people were assault cases, while almost 45 percent were crimes of intimidation .

Android smartphone maker Essential promised that it would be releasing an update to Android 8.0 Oreo for its devices soon, and now there's a beta version of the update available through its developer portal. Now some of you might be confused as, phones like OnePlus, Samsung and some Android skins will indicate to you which app is draining your battery, but with this new update, it will become a feature included with the Android operating system rather than manufacturer enabled feature. While Oreo is advancing at a snail's pace, it should begin picking up speed as more people get their hands on the newest flagship devices such as the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 Xl, and Mate 10 Pro, among others that launched running Android 8 Oreo.

To be precise, the stats are based on active devices interacting with Google Play over the period of a week.

The 0.3 percent mark for Android Oreo is an improvement over the 0.2 percent market that the OS version held last month as reported by GSMArena. Also, this means that low internal storage devices - midrange and budget phones - will still have to run Android Oreo to take advantage of this upcoming feature. Meanwhile, vendors are still launching new devices with pre-Oreo Android.
