Duterte Says He Killed Someone as a Teen Over a Look

Duterte goes into the event appearing confident that even his most outrageous remarks and actions will be ignored, having boasted in the lead-up he once stabbed someone to death, while at the same time proposing to host a global human rights summit.

Upon winning election past year, he implemented a drug war that has seen thousands of people killed, including children.

Human rights organizations say they are concerned that Trump will give Duterte a free pass on his drug war crackdown, by failing to mention the issue during his multi-day visit.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to slap a United Nations investigator who criticised his deadly war on drugs.

This was how Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar described President Duterte's presence at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Vietnam during an interview with state-run Radyo Pilipinas yesterday.

The Philippine leader also lashed out again at United Nations human rights expert Agnès Callamard, the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary, or arbitrary executions.

Trump plans to address human rights in his meetings with Duterte, senior administration officials told CNN.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte claimed to have killed someone in a brawl as a teen, France 24 reported.

Trump is expected to arrive in Manila this weekend for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related meetings.

Duterte can expect blanket support from his ASEAN colleagues, many of whom are also shadowed by human rights controversies.

The pair are set to have a face-to-face meeting in the coming days when Trump finishes up his Asia trip with a stop in Manila.

Noting that economic ties "are at the lower level", Putin said he wanted to see an improvement in the economic relations between the two countries.

It has also become a standard photo of Duterte with dignitaries and celebrities like Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe, businessman Jack Ma, and actor Steven Segal.
