Solo accuses ex-FIFA president Blatter of sexual assault

Solo is a two-time gold winner at the Olympics and said she was left'in shock by the Fifa president's alleged grope

Former FIFA President Joseph "Sepp" Blatter became the latest high-profile men to be accused of sexual assault after former Washington Huskies and Seattle Reign FC goalie Hope Solo said he grabbed her at an award ceremony. "It's been normalized", said Solo, who presented the FIFA's women's player of the year award in January 2013 and shared the stage with Blatter.

The World Cup victor, 36, says the incident happened at the 2013 Ballon d'Or awards, before she went on stage to present an award. It was the Ballon d'Or I was presenting.

Solo told The Guardian that she had to compose herself to make a speech before she handed the award to her US teammate Abby Wambach.

Solo also took to Instagram to express her support for the ongoing #MeToo campaign, which aims to raise awareness of sexual assault and harassment.
