Roy Moore Being Persecuted Like Jesus, Says Brother After Child Abuse Allegation

Alabama official uses Bible to condone sexual misconduct

The woman who alleges the sexual encounter never filed a police report and has not filed a civil suit, and Moore called the allegations by the Post "completely false and a desperate political attack".

Three other women interviewed by the Washington Post said Moore, now 70, approached them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s.

At least two said they would vote for Moore even if he had committed sex crimes against a 14-year-old.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters traveling with Trump in Asia that the president believes a "mere allegation" - especially one from many years ago - shouldn't be allowed to destroy a person's life.

The poll does show Moore losing support disproportionately among self-identified Evangelicals (a majority of Alabama voters), leading Jones in that demographic 58-37; he led by 68-28 in September.

Overall, however, Washington Republicans have very little leverage over Moore.

"The same thing happened to President Trump a few weeks before his election a year ago except it was several women making allegations", said Falwell.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) tweeted on Thursday, "The allegations against Roy Moore are deeply disturbing and disqualifying".

National Football League expects Goodell contract extension to be finalized soon
According to the New York Times , the Cowboys owner has hired the services of high powered attorney David Boyce. According to ESPN , Goodell is furious that his next contract might be performance-based.

Leigh Corfman, now 53, told the Post she met Moore at a courthouse in 1979 when Moore offered to keep her company on a bench outside of a hearing room while her mother was inside for child custody proceeding.

He has denied the allegations in a written statement, and in an email to his supporters, he said he meant to stay in the Senate race to fight the "forces of evil".

The NRSC's removal from the account is the most concrete step taken to date to create distance between the national Republican Party and the Moore campaign. State auditor Jim Ziegler says "Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter", suggesting that Roy Moore acted in a divine tradition if he in fact made sexual advances toward a 14-year-old girl.

Mr. Mowery cited Moore's overwhelming popularity with Alabama's Republican voters, who he said would tend to distrust allegations published in the Post. He was considered a heavy favorite in deeply Republican Alabama in the December 12 special election to fill the seat of US Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Moore is already known as a volatile politician, and Senate Majority Mitch McConnell expressly favored his primary opponent, Luther Strange.

In the small eastern Alabama town of Heflin, a handful of people interviewed by the AP indicated they were indifferent to the allegations if not disbelieving of them. She then asked him to take her home, and he did.

Ziegler also noted, in defense of Moore, that Moore married a woman who is younger than him - he was 38 and his wife 24 when they married. (The woman says Moore touched her over her underwear.) Another said that "14-year-olds don't make good decisions".

McConnell's inner circle spent late Thursday morning discussing the repercussions and how Republicans should move forward - and grousing that if unusual, their preferred candidate in the primary, was still the nominee, they would not be answering questions about Moore's conduct.
