Priti Patel Told Undisclosed Meetings In Israel A 'Resigning Matter'

Priti Patel: Israel and Britain can extend and improve their partnership

And he added: "The Secretary of State has been clear with Number 10 that on no other occasions while a minister has she organised meetings with foreign government ministers outside the normal channels while on holiday".

Ms Patel admitted that Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson did not know about the trip in advance.

While Patel's secret meeting with the Israeli's is seen by many as a clear breach of the ministerial code of conduct, some have pointed to the paralysis within May's government in punishing this kind of rogue behaviour, especially when it comes to UK's relations with Israel.

Britain's global development secretary apologized Monday for holding meetings with top Israeli officials, among them Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, without informing the Foreign Office beforehand.

Kate Osamor, the shadow worldwide development secretary, said: "Not only does it look like she might have breached the ministerial code, she has now been caught misleading the British public".

Ms Patel is now facing calls to resign following the revelations, which also revealed that she was accompanied by Lord Polak, the honorary president of the Conservative Friends of Israel lobbying group, but no British officials were present at the sessions.

"This summer I travelled to Israel, on a family holiday paid for myself". The Foreign and Commonwealth Office was aware of my visit while it was under way. While away I had the opportunity to meet a number of people and organisations. I am sorry for this and I apologise for it.

Kaepernick lawyers seek depositions of Robert Kraft, other National Football League owners
Last month, he filed a grievance against the NFL's 32 owners charging them with colluding to keep him sidelined over his protests. ABC News reported other owners to be deposed include the Seattle Seahawks' Paul Allen and the San Francisco 49ers' Jed York.

Shadow Cabinet Office minister Jon Trickett said Ms Patel should face a probe led by the standards adviser, after she was reprimanded personally by the PM.

He alleged Ms Patel broke four grounds of the code - openness, collective responsibility, honesty and performing only those duties allocated to them by the PM.

On Tuesday No.10 confirmed Patel had suggested the United Kingdom send aid money to the Israeli army in the Golan Heights.

Other political parties are also under scrutiny.

She was also reprimanded by Downing Street for suggesting the Foreign Office was aware of the meetings before they took place even though it was not.

A spokesperson for May's office said on Monday: "The prime minister welcomes the secretary of state's clarification about her trip to Israel and has accepted her apology for her handling of the matter".

Downing Street confirmed that detail was not discussed when Theresa May held talks with her Cabinet colleague yesterday, and that the Prime Minister only learned when the BBC revealed it this morning.
