Senate Dems demand Sessions clarify testimony on Russian Federation

Sessions's participation in the gathering was detailed in court documents released Monday by special counsel Robert Mueller III. Leahy asked Sessions later that month if the attorney general had "been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election". "If I were Sessions, I wouldn't have recalled it either". Near the end of the dinner, Page approached Sessions to say hello and thanked the then-senator for the dinner, and Page also mentioned he was headed to Russian Federation. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. It was the first meeting of then-candidate Trump's foreign policy team at a time when he was being roundly criticized for not having foreign policy credentials and not being able to name any major players who were helping him out.

Page reportedly mentioned the trip to Sessions during a group dinner in Washington, and said it was unrelated to his foreign policy role in Trump's campaign. "The attorney general immediately dismissed it and moved on". And whether it becomes a problem for him or not may just depend on President Trump and also on Congress. Democrats in the Senate are demanding that Sessions come back and explain this discrepancy - how he could have been in the room for a meeting where someone said this thing and then said he knew nothing about Russian connections during the campaign.

"It was a bad idea and the Senator didn't want people to speak about it again", he said.

On Wednesday, Democrats said Sessions needs to clarify his comments.

Philadelphia Eagles trade for Jay Ajayi
Wentz himself is a running threat, and there are also talented and underrated backs in Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement . A fifth-round pick of the Dolphins in 2015, Ajayi played in 31 games and gained 1,924 yards, scoring nine touchdowns.

"He seems to have problems telling the truth on this subject", Franken said of Sessions. The email went to "several members of the Campaign's foreign policy team", prosecutors alleged. And O'Connor asked, you know, people are upset that the Justice Department isn't going after Hillary Clinton. Papadopoulos has pleaded guilty for making a false statement to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about contacts with people connected with the Russian government.

Nonetheless, the court filing on Papadopoulos is now being contrasted with long-disputed answers Sessions gave the Senate Judiciary Committee at his confirmation hearing about Trump's campaign, including the exchange with Franken.

Senator Al Franken, whose exchange with Sessions in January has prompted a continuing dispute, said in a letter to Sessions on Thursday that the Papadopoulos revelations are "another example in an alarming pattern in which you, the nation's top law enforcement officer, apparently failed to tell the truth, under oath, about the Trump team's contacts with agents of Russian Federation". Democrats on the committee, including Franken, are now arguing that statement may have been false, too. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn. "There were questions that elicited exactly the kind of information that the Papadopoulos plea agreement made". Christopher Coons, D-Del., another member of the Judiciary Committee.

Although Page said his comment to Sessions was only in passing and the trip was unrelated to the campaign, he statements call into question Sessions' testimony to Congress regarding the Trump campaign and any potential ties between it and Russian Federation.
