Bride identified as killer of 13 people with poisonous milk

Malik Owais Ahmed, District Police Officer, said: "When police established the suspicion that this is not a case of using contaminated lassi but it is a case of homicide and a case of intentional murder then police arrested her and her lover".

The woman, from Muzaffargarh, a city in south Punjab in Pakistan, poisoned a glass of milk intended for her new husband but he did not drink it.

A woman in Pakistan is alleged to have fatally poisoned 15 of her in-laws in a botched effort to kill her husband and escape her arranged marriage.

She said Lashari gave her a poisonous substance, which she used to try to kill her husband. 15 people died in hospital because of the severe intoxication while other 12 remain in a critical condition.

The death toll has been rising since last Thursday, when the tainted drinks were first served and eight people initially died.
