ICC investigates approach made on Sarfraz

Reports in Pakistan claimed captain Sarfraz Ahmed was approached before the third one-day worldwide against Sri Lanka in Adu Dhabi on Wednesday.

The concerned player's immediate actions were in accordance with the cricket player's code, according to the report.

Sarfraz, who led Pakistan to ICC Champions Trophy 2017 title triumph over India, not only declined the offer spot-on but also reported the matter to the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU).

Sources revealed later that the cricketer in question was skipper Sarfraz, who was shopping with his family at a mall in Dubai when he was approached by a bookie ahead of the second ODI against Sri Lanka.

It is said the particular bookie was well known to the Pakistan players and is said to have supplied net bowlers to the team regularly in the UAE. Matters are jointly in hand.

In a tweet sent out today (Saturday), the PCB Chairman said that, yes, a player had indeed been approached by a spot-fixer and had offered him a chance to join in.

Previously, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have been banned for five years by PCB's anti-corruption tribunal after the PSL was rocked by a spot-fixing scandal.
