76ers' Ben Simmons On NBA Debut: "Felt Like I Was Playing 2K"

2:37PlayDid the Sixers take a risk in giving Joel Embiid a max contract extension

Budding Sixers phenom Joel Embiid is one of the most fascinating players in the National Basketball Association, and after he surpassed what was expected to be a tight minutes restriction in the Sixers opener, we may finally get to see what the 23-year-old center can do as a full-time player.

Joel Embiid, who was also making his comeback, had 18 points and 13 rebounds in 27 minutes after injuries restricted him to only 31 games in his first three seasons.

"Being able to have his first game in his backyard, I'm so happy for him", said Keith Williams, Fultz's AAU coach, trainer and mentor. "Embiid. He's nice", O'Neal said. "It all equaled the number that kind of surprised all of us, none more than so".

In Embiid's eyes, the plan is simple.

"Still gotta work on a lot of things, but as a team we're getting there". "I think the plan is just get out there, play, and see how I feel".

Brooklyn Nets: 3 takeaways from 2017-18 season opener
The veteran guard averaged 14.5 points and 5.1 assists while shooting at a 36 percent clip from distance last season . Lin missed a significant portion of last season with various minor injuries and only played 36 games last season .

On Thursday night before the start of the Knicks-Thunder game, TNT commentator Charles Barkley went a step further, guaranteeing that the Sixers will make the playoffs this season. "But we've gotta stop calling it a minutes restriction". It's his first game near home since high school. Now, the staff led by Dr. C Daniel Medina is doing a better job of listening to the input Embiid has to offer about how he feels physically.

What he said got everyone's attention. He realizes that he needs to be honest with the staff about how he's feeling when they ask him, something he may not have recognized before.

Williams thinks Fultz, if given opportunities, could average 18 to 20 points a game as a rookie. He believes he's ready to handle playing around 26 minutes a night on consecutive days.

"I love the excitement", he said. Each game will be a case-by-case basis, all dependent on how Embiid feels on a given night.

"We just hope he's OK", Nets forward Caris LeVert said. "I think it should always be about how my body feels and how it's reacting", he added.
