Air bag concerns force Mercedes-Benz recall

Sheffield Mercedes Benz dealership unveils revamp

Mercedes Benz has announced that is recalling around 400,000 cars in the UK.

The safety recall affects certain A-Class, B-Class, C-Class and E-Class models, together with CLA, GLA and GLC vehicles, built between November 2011 and July 2017.

The issue itself relates to a "clock spring" in the steering column, says Autocar, "which if broken can trigger an airbag warning and illuminate the airbag warning light".

Mercedes-Benz in the U.S. said that there had been "a handful of instances where drivers suffered minor abrasions or bruises".

Iraqi forces 'launch major Kirkuk operation'
The referendum was held in three autonomous provinces of Iraqi Kurdistan, but also in nearby Kurdish-held areas including Kirkuk. An Iraqi military official denied that troop movements around Kirkuk were part of an all-out assault on the Peshmerga.

Mercedes is recalling 400,000 cars in the United Kingdom due to faulty steering systems that can cause airbags to deploy. The issue is to do with the steering column where it could possibly cause the airbag to deploy, you can see details on the exact issue below.

Due to insufficient grounding of steering components, the airbags can deploy when an electrostatic discharge occurs as a result of a broken clock spring.

Mercedes-Benz said its cars were safe to drive under normal operating conditions but urged customers to contact its roadside assistance service if the air bag warning light comes on.

Mercedes is now getting in contact with owners of the affected cars, to book them in for an appointment at a dealership or fix centre.
