Perez eclipses Thomas to win CIMB Classic

Pat Perez victorious again at the 2017 CIMB Classic

Pat Perez won the PGA Tour's CIMB Classic claiming a four-shot victory over compatriot Keegan Bradley on Sunday at TPC Kuala Lumpur.

The 2016/2017 PGA Tour Best Rookie Player, Xander Schauffele shared third spot with South Korean Kang Sung-hoon with identical 17-under-par 271 scores.

"I knew the guys atop the leaderboard were going to extend their lead and I was hoping to get 12, 15 under at the start of the day", he said.

Defending champion Justin Thomas finished tied for 17th place. "I really can't explain it, it's been an incredible 12 months. I didn't hit it that great". After a birdie on the second he then picked up shots at the following three holes to lie 11 under.

He seemed surprised by the turn in fortunes so late in his career, describing himself as a "late bloomer", but vowed he would not change his lifestyle.

"I'm not going to change anything, " said Perez when asked on course by the PGA Tour how the win would change things for him. "I'm still not going to workout. The tournament's been fantastic", he said.

With Collins out, more GOP could join governor's race
If there's one person in Washington who's demonstrated a willingness to buck the leadership of her own party, it's Sen. Collins made her announcement at a breakfast meeting here of the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce.

"I was definitely low on gas".

"I really played well the last two days, which was nice to see".

And, true to form, the 41-year-old was as candid as ever after his victory when asked about re-setting goals for the 2017-18 season.

Other favorites at the CIMB also fared poorly, with Japan's Hideki Matsuyama finishing tied for fifth and India's Anirban Lahiri tied for 10th.

With a total of 24-under-par 264, Perez received the championship trophy from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and pocketed USD1.26 million (about RM5.32 million) for his feat and besides having a big slice of the total purse, Perez also earned 500 FedEx Cup points.
