Jets upset, baffled after replay review negates TD in game vs. Patriots

Jets offensive coordinator John Morton directs players

New York Jets tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins believed he scored a touchdown during the fourth quarter of Sunday's game versus the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium.

With 8:31 remaining in the contest and the Patriots ahead 24-14, Seferian-Jenkins appeared to get to the pylon with possession of the football. The play was initially ruled a touchdown, but was overturned on replay because it was determined that Seferian-Jenkins never regained possession before going out of bounds through the end zone.

Entering the year, the New England Patriots were thought to have a realistic shot at going 16-0 and the New York Jets were thought to have a realistic shot at an 0-16 season.

"They make the calls, I play football, I need to have better ball security".

The Patriots (4-2) were playing their first game in 10 days after beating Tampa Bay 19-14 on October 5, and appeared a bit rusty early as they fell behind 14-0 in the second quarter against the surprising Jets (3-3). Brady wasn't going to be denied, though, piloting the offense to 24 unanswered points before the Patriots squeaked out a 24-17 victory and avoid what would have marked the third loss of the season while propelling the Jets to first place in the AFC East. Instead of cutting the Patriots lead to three with nine minutes left, the referee ruled a fumble and a touchback even though the ball was clearly in Seferian-Jenkins' arms when he landed. "Once they threw it up on the big screen, you could see the ball get juggled a little bit". "But at the end of the day, that's what the refs called. I let the team down and I'm definitely going to have better ball security next time". It came out of his control as he was nearly to the ground. "I promise you, we'll get better at that, but it's just frustrating". "So, he didn't survive the recovery and didn't survive the ground during the recovery, which is what happened here".

Truck bomb kills at least 20 in Somali capital
Mohamed Hussein says the blast occurred overnight (NZT) as security forces were trailing the truck that had raised suspicions. The militants are fighting the Somali military and over 20,000 African Union forces in the country.

"I wish we had done better, but we won", said Brady, who was limited early in the week with a sore left shoulder.

Corrente added the discussion with the crew back in NY on the replay wasn't long because "it was pretty obvious".

After the Jets jumped out to a 14-0 lead to start the game, they fell behind and were looking to mount a comeback.

The Jets were trailing at the time, 24-14.
