Dove apologises for racially insensitive advertisement on Facebook

It was reported that the advertisement showed a woman wearing a dark shirt allegedly removed her top to show a white woman in a lighter top. One is a group of four images from the ad that show only the black woman turning into the white woman.

"The short video was meant to convey that Dove body wash is for every woman and be a celebration of diversity, but we got it wrong", Dove said in a statement. "We deeply regret the offence it caused".

In 2011, they apologized for a Dove VisibleCare body wash ad, which seemed to show a black woman as the "before" photo and a white woman as the "after" photo with "more attractive skin".

In response to the outrage, the company has written an apology in its social media accounts. "We do not condone any activity or imagery that intentionally insults any audience", the statement read. While the company withdrew the ad, it has, once again, brought into focus how deeply ingrained racism and colourism are in the society - they are entrenched in a way that many fail to recognise they are indulging in it.

The racial-suggestive images have caused outrage on social media, with users threatening to boycott the beauty brand.

Responding to a comment on whether the ad would be deemed racist if it was the other way around, Blake added: "Nope, we wouldn't and that's the whole point".

Penn State up to No. 3 in AP poll
The Spartans turned things around last week, grinding out a 17-10 win over Iowa in which they won the turnover battle 2-0. Speight had struggled throughout the season as he only completed 54.3% of his passes while throwing two interceptions.

Dove is now under fire after posting a Facebook ad that was deemed racist by the public.

"I guess it's saying it's diverse for all woman", said one commenter, Aundrea McRea. "A little bit of bad advertisement but I get it". The products of Dove are manufactured all over the world (Australia, Japan, Philippines, Poland, China, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Turkey, Thailand, South Africa, United States and many more.) The company manufactures beauty products for men and women (soap, body lotion, and deodorant) which are sold in more than 80 countries.

Despite having apologized and removed the ad, Dove set the internet ablaze. In 2011, an ad sparked controversy after it showed three women with different skin tones in front of a wall marked "before and "after".

Cosmetics brand Dove has become the bane of the internet after it posted an advertisement considered to be racist.

Chris Broussard agreed: "I'll never use Dove soap again".

People have also been tweeting images of Dove products featuring descriptions like "for normal to dark skin" in the hashtag #donewithdove, which is really picking up steam.
