He said that Pakistan has offered Afghanistan to conduct training in counter terrorism operations and border management.

The new South Asia policy announced by U.S. President Donald Trump does not account for the multiple dimensions of the Afghanistan situation and by exclusively focussing on Pakistan's alleged support to the Taliban, the setting itself up for defeat, Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Thursday.

He also said that unlike Pakistan more than 50 per cent of Afghanistan under control of rebels including who are targeting Pakistan.

"We have concerns about the future of Pakistan's government too, in terms of them - we want their government to be stable".

Replying to a question he said that India always leveled baseless allegations on Pakistan to divert world's attention from the atrocities and state terrorism it was carrying out in occupied Kashmir. Rejecting allegations levelled by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford about Pakistan's stance on regional terrorism, Zakaria said that the United States can not blame Pakistan for its own failures in Afghanistan. We want it to be peaceful.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said after a meeting with Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday that he believed the United States had a reliable partner in Pakistan.

The top US diplomat added that US-Pakistan relationship held extraordinary importance in the region.

Metro, roads disrupted in Catalonia pro-independence protest
Spain's interior minister has said the 5,000 extra police officers would remain in Catalonia as long as possible. Independence supporters gather in Barcelona's main square, Spain , Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017.

The secretary of state added: "So, we think there is an opportunity for us to strengthen that relationship".

He said Pakistan has "not only a trust deficit with the U.S. It's a trust deficit with the Taliban".

After the meeting, Tillerson said Pakistan was critical to the stability of South Asia.

Inviting Secretary Tillerson to visit Islamabad to continue their discussions, the Foreign Minister stressed that a broad-based and structured framework for dialogue would best serve the two countries' mutual interests. Pakistan's foreign minister, on his part, brought nothing to the table, at least publicly, other than the familiar laundry list of complaints and disclaimers, despite warnings from the Trump administration that it was running out of time before Washington initiating punitive action.

Reiterating that no organized terror outfit existed in Pakistan, the DG ISPR said that Pakistan army fully backed by the people fought a full-fledged war against terror in last four years.

Trump's new South Asia strategy announced in August also figured during their talks.
